So you want to broadcast your thoughts and experiences to the world? What better and cheaper way to do it than to start a blog?
But there are a few things I’ve discovered first-hand that has made my blogging experience more difficult than it needed to be.
Here is a brief lists of “don’t’s” when beginning a blog:
Don’t advertise your blog until it has activity. I was so eager to announce to the world that I had a new blog I advertised it wildly before I even began posting. You would be surprised of the number of people who will visit your blog when it isn’t ready to be unveiled.

Try to create short blog entries. I’m still guilty of writing posts that are more like magazine articles. People like to skim blog articles and not dedicate their lives to what you think is important.
When using StumbeUpon, make sure your blog is properly listed under the topic selection. I was stunned when I suddenly received over 200 hits in a matter of hours. It was then I realized that my blog was listed under “relationships.” Always nice to irritate hundred of readers.

Be sure you choose a good title for your blog. Don’t make the mistake I’ve made and title it using your name. It might work if you are a celebrity (I’m still working on it!) but in general no one really cares who you are, and using your name doesn’t help to describe the topic matter within.

Hopefully these tips will make your blogging experience more productive and more enjoyable!
